Saffron Walden Round Table are excited to announce that we are bringing the Drive-In Cinema experience to Carver Barracks Airfield on the Friday 25th September, Saturday 26th September and Sunday 27th September

From the comfort and in your own personal space of your car you will be able to enjoy a selection of films for FREE!

We expect there to be high demand for this event, it does have a maximum limit of tickets for each showing so please apply in the form below to the enter the ballot to win a free ticket. (Tickets are 1 per car)

Food and Drink will be able to be pre-ordered, bought on arrival and will be delivered directly to your car before and during the show. More details to follow soon.

Carver Barracks is a British Army base on the former site of RAF Debden, approximately 1 mile north of the village of Debden, in Essex and a 7 minute drive from Saffron Walden.

Plan your Visit

Entry to the site can be made from 18:30 each evening at the entrance at Water Lane. Please be careful here as could be high amount of cars

Gates will close 15 minutes before the film for safety reasons. Please allow time for busy periods and please try to be on site 30 minutes before the screening begins.

Food and Drink can be pre-ordered online. All refreshments will be brought to your car. Toilets will be on site and we will be regulating social distancing measures during the whole of the event.

At the current time you will only be able to enjoy the film from the comfort of your car.

FAQ’s

Tickets are available online only and we have an extremely limited number of tickets per show so we recommend signing up for a tickets as soon as possible in the form at the top of the page.

As we only have a limited amount of tickets we are trying to make if fair so everyone can at least enjoy one film showing. Once we have a list we will contact you to see if you are still interested and then give you a link to get a ticket.

If you are successful and are unable to make the showing, please contact us at charity@swrt.org so we can pass it onto someone else.

We have had over 600 applications, so we have around 300 on the waiting list.

Yes, you will need to enter your car registration and vehicle details on the ticket page.
This is so we can check you in easier when you arrive and minimise contact with Round Tabler’s and volunteers.
If this needs to be changed at any point, please contact us at charity@swrt.org or using the contact page on the website.

Cars will be spread out to provide adequate social distancing will be parked to allow plenty of space should you need to leave your vehicle to use the on-site facilities.
Additional measures will also be put in place for a safe event experience, following all government guidelines. This will include, queuing lanes for the on-site toilets, PPE being worn by Tabler’s and Volunteers and minimal contact with yourselves by allowing you to order refreshments via the website.

You will need to stay in your vehicle for the duration of the event, except when using the toilet facilities or in case of emergency.

Saffron Walden’s Round Table team are determined to continue to deliver safe and superb events for the community. This has been shown in the last 60 years of safe Firework displays and Saffron Walden Carnival – 8 Day Weekend’s.

Large cars such as SUV’s and people carriers are allowed, but may be positioned towards the back to allow other customers better viewing. *Vans are not permitted.

For the best cinema experience we recommend 2 people per car. The Free ticket is per vehicle so you are welcome to bring additional passengers, up to your vehicle’s legal limit. We however can’t guarantee the view from the back seats of the car depending on your car size.

Guests of any age can attend, however, the film certification always applies so please also make sure the film is suitable and of the correct certification. We reserve the rights to refuse entry to anyone who is under the certification age.

FM transmitter (details)

Only service dogs are allowed at the screenings and must be kept in your vehicle at all times. No other dogs are allowed at any of our screenings.

Due to current government guidelines, you will need to stay in your vehicle for the duration of the event, except when using the toilet facilities or in case of emergency.

Once you are parked up, you may only move your car in the event of an emergency. At the end of the event Round Tabler’s and volunteer’s will let you know when its your row’s turn to exit. Please be patient and safe during this time.

Food and drink will be able to be preordered online via our refreshment stall. We will be sending out the link to preorder this along with the tickets.

By pre-ordering your food we will be letting you on-site first.

Times will be communicated to you once you have a ticket. We need to minimise numbers turning up at once so will be giving out time slots closer to the time.

Yes, Carver Barracks have allowed us to use their toilet block onsite. These will be maintained and cleaned regularly.
The health and safety of everyone is of high importance to us and you can expect clean and safe facilities.

We ask that you take your rubbish home with you. This will help to keep the event area clean and safe and have as little contact as possible.
