Open Door Counselling Service
Saffron Walden Round Table are delighted to have been able to support the Saffron Walden Open Door Counselling Service. Open Door was founded in 1997 to provide free and confidential
counselling and advice to young people aged 13 to 26 years. It is based at the Adult Community Learning Centre in Fairycroft Road, Saffron Walden, but serves the whole of Uttlesford. A team of counsellors, operating to British Association of Counselling guidelines, offer their services on a voluntary basis in order that young people can access counselling free of charge.
Manager of the service Pam Jenner said: ‘We are delighted to receive this very generous donation from Saffron Walden Round Table. Our organisation receives no statutory funding and therefore we rely on the generosity of the local community for our survival. We are the only free counselling service in the area dealing specifically with young people. Our referrals come from GP surgeries, schools, other organisations and from the young people themselves. This donation will enable us to provide our team of counsellors with on-going training to ensure they continue to offer a first-class professional service.”
