New trailer for Agricultural Science Unit at Saffron Walden County High
The Agricultural Science Unit (ASU) is part of Saffron Walden County High School (the Saffron Academy Trust). The ASU approached the Saffron Walden Round Table as they where in need of a muck trailer to allow the safe disposal of animal waste that is created on the farm.
Esther Blakey, teacher at the ASU said ‘Having a muck trailer will make the ASU a less hazardous place for the students that access animal based education course and extra curricula activities. It will allow staff to spend more time working with student in therapeutic role for both behavioural and educational needs. The trailer will enable development of the ASU to be open to the volunteer groups and the public giving them the opportunity to develop both life and land-based skills’.
The ASU have many animals and the unit grows year upon year, they have recently had spring lambs born. The unit is home to a wide variety of animals and hold regular open days.
The members of the Saffron Walden Round Table hope that the trailer helps the unit to grow and develop, whilst facilitating the education of our next generation.
